Los Guapos (2-1-2) got back on the winning track with a hard-fought victory over My Little Ponies FC (2-3-1) in a rain-soaked Father's Day match. The only goal the Guapos needed was on a spectacular free kick taken by midfielder Grey Kironde. The Ponies were called for a handball near the center circle, about 40 yards from their goal. Kironde took the kick and took the goalie by surprise when he went directly for goal and snuck the ball between his outstretched hands and the crossbar.
Although the Ponies pushed hard for the equalizer in the second half, Los Guapos did a good job controlling the tempo and limiting the chances of their dangerous forwards. Neither goaltender Adam Harter nor backup goalie Mike Gontarek were available for this game. So goaltending dituies were split between Cappy Gray (1st half) and Mark Provenzano (2nd half) who, along with some tight defense from the Guapos back line, were able to preserve a clean sheet for the Guapos' 3rd shutout of the season.
The Guapos will next taken on the conference-leading Patriots (4-1) at Playstead Field in Medford on June 28.
